My cost after aid is only 17k. My parents said that it is fine or even perfect.
Have your counselor address. I would not address. You cannot say the death is the cause of the C. You don’t know the cause and that can seem like excuse making. Sorry for your loss - and yes, your school can guide your chancing best as a private.
As for $17k at NU, if that’s your favorite then take your shot. But there are a lot of like schools that perhaps you might like better ? Rice, Wash U, Emory, Vandy - they may be a slightly bit easier in. Make sure you visit if you can to ensure you like it b4 binding yourself four years.
But most important is that affordable and assured - hence your in state. Get your ACT up and Bama becomes close. UAH, Louisiana Tech and may be others.
But many meet need (but will be hard to get into). UNC and UVA are the two flagships that do (as opposed to UM and the UCs you had listed).
Run their NPCs.
Here’s a third party list of meets need schools. Many will be need aware - meaning finances may be used to help determine admissibility.
Good luck
Gotcha, so basically replace UCs with UVA and UNC, and get safeties like Bama and MSU. I have Rice and Vandy both in my top 10 list.
Appreciate it!
Add WUSTL, Lehigh,Emory and Case Western as easier. Wake Forest may be another. Run their NPCs NPCs. W&L is worth a gander too. I imagine MSU will fit you better than Ole Miss.
Bama likely doesn’t work for you without a 32 ACT but at 30 you can try. No superscore on Bama merit (I believe). They give some kids extra money. It will be more than NU by maybe $3-5k a year. UAH will be price competitive now (better with an 32) and may be a better social fit than Bama judging by your list.
If you get 33, you might consider FSU and hope for an out of state waiver.
Out of state public universities are unlikely to offer significant need based financial aid (possible exceptions are Virginia and Michigan). Use each school’s net price calculator to get an estimate.
Some may offer merit scholarships, but that is mostly applicable to those not at the high end of admission selectivity, where you would be one of the top students there. (Did UT Dallas offer scholarships that make it affordable?)
Perfect
Nope. I still don’t know much about UTD because they just gave an admissions offer through common app if I apply, and I haven’t applied but will start apps on October, right now is just locked in for ACT.
