Is Transferring better with an F or a W?

Alright so here’s the deal, basically I want to transfer and I have been going through the steps to transfer, currently it is in the middle of the second semester, I am a freshman BTW.
I have gotten into two schools and am still waiting to hear back from the other schools, but basically applications have already gone in and have been received.
Now here’s the problem, Chemistry is the bane of my existence, I barely passed last semester and this semester it doesn’t look like that is going to happen unless I really get lucky and pull out all the strings, however, my college due to this whole COVID-19 epidemic has extended the class withdrawal deadline much longer such that I could potentially withdraw right now, BUT the colleges that accepted me said that my application was dependent on the successful completion of classes that I am currently enrolled in, even though they already let me in.
So I could try to pass the class and maybe fail, or I could withdraw and go about it through that route. I need advice as quickly as possible please, this has lead to a bunch of sleepless nights full of panic attacks.

W is better than F.

All the rules have changed/are changing because of the current crisis. The College where I teach is offering the option of WC (withdraw because of the crisis) and IC (incomplete with 12 months to finish for a grade) because of the crisis.

Talk with the people at your current college and at the places where you have been accepted. Perhaps a W will work for you. Or your own college might have an IC type option that would give you the summer to pull your Chem grade up to barely passing.

I agree that W is better than F, especially now.

In general I’d agree that a W is better than a F.

In your case, I’d recommend that you contact the colleges you hope to transfer into (both the one where you have been accepted and the ones you haven’t heard from yet).

–For the schools you have been accepted into, ask if your acceptance will remain valid if you withdraw from chem. Try to get this in writing (email is fine) in case it is questioned down the road.
–For the schools you haven’t heard back from yet let them know in writing (again, email is fine) that you have dropped chem (assuming you do drop the course).

–You can say to all the schools (something like) that the withdrawal is due to the COVID-19 outbreak – that the class has been difficult to do online so you are taking advantage of your college’s extended withdrawal option.

Also before you drop the class be sure that dropping the class won’t take you down from full time to part time and impact any financial aid. If it does I’d call the Financial Aid office to see if there is any leeway due to the COVID-19 situation.
