Is tutoring classmates for 5 months each year a mentionable EC?

I will be applying to the top 50 US colleges so I need advice on ECs to put on my common app.
I tutored two of my classmates at my home for around 4-5 months during my freshman year and sophomore year each. Both were new students to the school and had trouble catching up with the course load. Inhad no obligation to teach them, I just wanted to. One had come from a foreign country. I taught them math and sciences. The tutoring was done months before the final exams and both the students agree that they only got good grades due to me. I really loved all that time and feel it shows a core element of my personality. Should I mention it in my common app? I’m afraid it will be seen as just friends having group study sessions. The rest of my ECs range from writing a novel, blogs, founding and leading Literature Club to debate competitions and community service internships

Yes. It is. My D did private tutoring for a few years in HS and one of her students was a foreign student in her class.

yes

Definitely

It is actually a pretty good one, just try and do more with it than a vanilla listing of “Tutor, grades 9-12” on your resume. Maybe writing an essay about it swings too far in the OTHER direction, but tutoring is far better than attending National Honor Society meetings, or taking part in a clean up crew once a semester, or other similar activities people list on this site and their resumes.
