Is UCLA a feeder to its own graduate schools?

<p>I need to know this as it is an important factor in deciding where I’m going to transfer to. Originally, I was going to Cal, but today I got an envelope from UCLA. I sent a letter of appeal around May 14, and I have now been admitted for Fall Quarter 2008. I am a psychology major. I live in LA.</p>

<p>Is it true that UCLA does not like to accept its own undergraduates towards their graduate schools? If this is true, then I may choose to go to Cal, because I want to go to UCLA med school. I’m studying to be a psychiatrist. Or is it the opposite? Will going to UCLA as an undergraduate help me get into their med school?</p>

<p>If someone could answer this question, I would greatly appreciate it. This it because if going to UCLA would be better, I have time to apply for housing. Although the time to submit my SIR has been extended by 3 weeks, I don’t think I’d get the guaranteed year of housing. But I still have time to cancel Cal and go to UCLA. This is just as factor, as I will still try to incorporate my opinions about the social life, academics, etc. Feel free to give opinions about other aspects of both schools if you’d like. Thanks.</p>

<p>It won’t matter for grad school, especially not medical school, you should go where you want. Getting into UCLA med school is of course extremely difficult, where you did undergrad isn’t going to the the deciding factor.</p>

<p>If you were going for an academic doctorate, it would matter. Going for a professional degree, like an MD, it shouldn’t matter.</p>

<p>It doesn’t matter because, as already stated, UCLA’s med school is extremely competitive so it won’t really matter where you go for undergrad. Go where you want the most!</p>
