Is uf campus ugly?

Is the campus ugly like I’ve heard?

Is there luxurious off campus living? Can you live off campus freshman year?

No, yes if you can afford it, and yes.

Whenever I look pictures up on google of uf. I can never find good pictures? Can anybody link me to some pretty pics please? Thanks

Anyone can take flatering pictures of the ugliest of things. Visit the campus for yourself, it’s the only way to judge it accurately and fairly. Go on youtube and see if there are vids.

Ok cool thanks. Are there things to do in gainesville however?

UF has a very pretty campus but it has mixed old gothic brick buildings with more modern building. The live oaks are beautiful.

What do you mean by “things to do”? Gainesville isn’t a big city, but it isn’t a hick town either (well, not really…). UF and SFCC students make up a significant portion of the city’s population, so there is plenty that caters to the college crowd.

Here’s a decent article that kind of provides an overview of Gainesville. It’s not completely obvious, but there are 8 pages of info.

Overall UF doesn’t have a bad looking campus, but I have to say I’d be surprised if it doesn’t take the cake for worst art installations out of any university in the country. The “French Fries,” the “Turlington Potato” and most of all those god-awful, ugly statues that they removed, besides the abomination in the Plaza of the Americas that supposedly cost $30,000.
But as to your question, LIVE OFF CAMPUS. A typical apartment is luxurious compared to on-campus housing, and I lived in the Honors Dorm freshman year which is supposed to be the nicest. Princeton Review gave UF #13 in their Worst Dorms list, and there’s a good reason for it. You can live off-campus freshman year and dear God you should.

I think our campus is very pretty - especially the area from the Florida Gym heading east all the way down to Little Hall (including Library West and the chemistry lecture hall building). The area down by Shands is alright, but more modern and just a lot different. There’s a lot of newer buildings over there. And then the area in between is not that great (the Reitz, Journalism building, the Physics building, McCarty, etc), but I wouldn’t call it ugly either.
