Is USC paperless?

How much time does the average Dornsife student spend with a pen or pencil in their hand?

USC is trying to be more eco-friendly, which means not printing out the syllabi for you (which some professors take to mean students must print it out themselves). The willingness to abide by the paper-free principles the school suggests (I don’t think they’re particularly enforced) varies from professor to professor. Some will have you turn in a digital copy of a paper and then print it out themselves, some will have you print it out, etc. Most handouts for class are on Blackboard, though, not physical handouts. And written finals are all done in blue (now green!) books.

I don’t think you can really quantify the time the “average Dornsife student” spends physically writing. Come prepared to write, both manually and with a computer. Or typewriter, if you’re retro like that.

Thank you wisdomsomehow. DD has been mostly paperless since 5th grade. I explained blue books to her. She will definitely need to improve her hand strength and penmanship skills over the summer.
