I think there’s a general fit. You may be a tad disappointed in Middletown’s shopping opportunities (what is it you think you’ll be buying?). The original “Bob’s”, a Connecticut version of Old Navy (originally “Bob’s Surplus”) is located on Main Street; that’s about it. The real hangout is Broad Street Books which serves as the campus bookstore and coffee shop. The restaurants in and around town are pretty good. You should probably also look at Bryn Mawr and Vassar as places that are conveniently close to cities and have gothic architecture.

people hang out at a book store? I have to get in!!!

Hi,

My daughter (and I) like to shop and she’ll be a freshman at Wes next year, There is good shopping nearby.
WestFarms Mall (google it to get website) is 15 minutes up

the road towards Hartford - Nordstroms, J. Crew, Jasime Sola and other
basic stores if you’re in need of an upscale “mall fix”. Down the other way
towards the shore about 1/2 hour is a premium outlet mall - (google premium
outlet Connecticut) - Barneys NY, Ralph Lauren, etc…

Sure you’ll be able to connect with fellow shoppers once at

Wes!!

someone said something before out places to eat…when i went to the info session there, the admissions person said that their town’s diner is ranked like as one of the top five in the country

Wesleyan is a suprisingly awesome place for dining. Middletown has at least two Thai restaurants, two Indian, one Tibetan, two Japanese, one Vegetarian, a bunch of Italian and American places, and one amazing, incredible, delicious diner. Plus, the dining is affordable.
