Is What I'm about to do a Horrible Idea?

I’m writing my application essay for a certain university, and I feel that a small disclaimer at the start of my essay could be very beneficial, however, I also feel that it is very unprofessional.

Basically, I would like to start my essay off with this:

In writing this essay, I would like to share that I feel that I have much more to offer than what may be assumed through some of my academic history.

Title (Centered)

Essay..........................................................................

Yay or nay?

I would say no. I really don’t see the point. The essay’s purpose is to show what your offer besides what they see on other parts of your application. No need to state the obvious. Plus, it is unprofessional and off-putting.

No, thats a horrible idea.

“however, I also feel that it is very unprofessional.”

Your feeling is correct. Omit it

I wouldn’t do it. It’s unprofessional (no one does that on job applications), and sounds a bit braggy to me IMO.

Thanks, I understand
