IS worth taking a Prep Course?

I am planning on taking the SAT 1 next weekend. Then the ACT, then the Subject Tests, then the ACT and the SAT again.

I started studying not too long ago honestly. I have already taken the SAT once and got 1200, the ACT 23; but under really bad circumstances and hadn’t studied at all. I am extremely sure I can get my SAT scores up to 1400-1500 and better my ACT scores, too.

The question is…is it worth taking a SAT course?

Is that 1200 out of 2400 or out of 1600?

Please let’s assume the writer can hold a pen… 1200/2400 equates to 400/800.

lol i know but sometimes there are people here who ask for help to get their scores to a 550 so Im just making sure

Yes, out of 1600.

For writing I got 550, but just took a test and I am in the 660-770 range.

So, what do you guys say? Is it worth taking a course?

GJZ:
Remember a lot of colleges superscore so you can do your prep strategically.
Essay scores bring up the Writing scaled score faster than the MC section.
So get yourself a strategy on writing the essay- prep on a few characters
-use Spark Notes online (free) - since the readers do not care about the
facts.

Focus on improving your Math and Writing scores on the SAT I.
It is too late to improve your CR score for next week.

You might want to devote at least 5 hours every day and not study on
the Friday before the SAT (more important that you are rested).

Pick up one of the easier well laid out books like PR (not Barrons)
and dilligently work through the tests at the back and read through their
explanations of what you got wrong. Do only the Math and Writing sections
so you can maximize your score.

I say you dont need a course. A course is for the people who are struggling and would love a 600+. But since you’re at that point already, a course will do you no good. I say just get some books and practice yourself

But, the thing is I am going to take the SAT again for a last third time…should I take a prep course for reading SAT course for the third time I take the SAT?

And, I’ll take for granted that the Princeton Review is the best SAT Prep Book?

Also, what’s a good course? I thought maybe only about 5 hours of private tutoring would be better in my case than taking a 30 hours class.

What do you guys say?

private tutoring is always better IMO

I agree. If you’re prepping for one final go, tutoring is best. A little more money, but much better compared to one of those big classes

Yes…that’s what I was thinking. Anybody suggest anyway I could get a tutor; but that is not so expensive? Thanks!

I mean…any place where I could get a tutor for CR reading that is not as expensive, but good?

Kaplan is good, but they said 145 an hour!

lol…New Oriental in china? it was in a mountain resort for 20 days, a lot of drinking a lot of fun and a lot of SAT fun.

you could try a friend that is good at the SAT??

Yeah, well traveling to China is probably pretty expensive :P

A friend would be good…but, other than they not being as professional, they wouldn’t honestly put too much effort on tutoring me honestly.
