<p>I know that it isn’t good to write about your academic achievements and how you took 8 APs junior or had a 4.0 GPA throughout the entire high school or a laundry list of all your achievements.
I was wondering if it would be fitting for me to write about my failure at an academic competition, specifically Science Bowl, and how I learned from it for the Common App essay prompt #2. If it is appropriate, what aspects should I focus and what aspects should I avoid?</p>
<p>Sure you can write about that. You can assume that it is a fairly common category of #2 to suggest but I wouldn’t worry about that too much. Think about what everyone else would say and what would be generic and avoid that. Think if you can come at this in a fresh way. Try to add your own personality and views in. Show some action and show how you think.</p>
