As a parent of a fist time accounting student , I’ve witnessed the challenges that come with accounting classes. I’ve seen my child struggle with understanding accounting concepts, and I know we’re not alone in this.
I’m reaching out to this community to ask: Are there other parents or students here facing similar difficulties in accounting or finance courses?
For students struggling with ANYTHING- there are three steps.
1- The professor. Seek out the instructor after class, office hours, make sure the professor knows the areas which are not clear. He/she can clarify, suggest additional reading, make review sessions available on a regular basis.
2- The U’s tutoring center. You are literally paying for extra help already-- folded into your tuition payments. A student struggling with ANYTHING academic should be taking advantage of these resources.
3-Academic advisor-They’ve seen it all. Perhaps your kid is in the wrong section? Perhaps your kid is missing a pre-req… or is shaky on some concept in HS math so that the fast-paced college classes are confusing?
Encourage your kid to make sure that they are tapping the available resources-- ASAP.
