Is your favorite/preferred product gone for good?

Clorox bleach pens - loved to use for direct stains on white shirts etc. Disappeared over Covid and never returned to our stores. Amazon has them for $50+ - guessing actual retail was $5 !

My husband is dairy free. Pre-Covid, he always drank Starbucks brand Almond Milk Frappuccinos. They disappeared and have not returned.

One of my favorites was gone but is back, baked scoops tortilla chips. I love fresh salsa but don’t want to eat all of those calories from regular. Colgate total toothpaste (not the tube) in white, now it’s all blue, so I switched to crest (I hate seeing toothpaste in the sink and haven’t used tubes in de adds due to having children, messy children).

Not to sidetrack this thread - but thanks for the “ice box cake” memory. First bday as married couple (30 yrs ago), called my MIL to get her famous ice box cake recipe to make for my husband’s bday. We had no kids at the time and were big foodies

MIL tells me to get a store bought angel food cake and cover it in cool whip flavored with hersheys chocolate sauce and chill. I followed her recipe and served it up for my husband’s bday - it became a joke in a loving way with friends renaming it twinkie pie.

There our times when I am baking a fancy dessert and hoping it turns out great, that I wish for the simplicity of that twinkie pie

I didn’t know that! We used to see them all the time. Wow. I’m surprised.

I miss the clear Neutrogena shampoo that I used off and on for decades. The fragrance brings me back to my grad school days. Anti-Residue Shampoo | NeutrogenaÂź

Oh @coffeeat3, that sounds yummy!!

Pillsbury slice and bake roll of cookie dough used to make ones that you actually slice and they had the patterns in the middle. Now they are all pre-sliced. Some years (like this year), I can find the gingerbread cookie dough in the roll, and some years not. They used to do sugar cookie dough also in a roll and once they did sugar cookie dough in red and green (that was so fun to bake for the holidays).

All skin and hair care products are an issue. My husband and daughter both have allergies. A few times a company has changed the formula on its shampoo and my daughter breaks out after using it. Then the search begins, to find a new one that she can safely use.

Are we sticking to only food products? I find my biggest issue is when they stop making the bra that I have loved and worn for years (has happened to both me and my daughter several times). I am talking about you “Victoria’s Secrets”.

Faves from the past that are no longer made or are increasingly harder to find:

  • Mandarin Orange Slice (favorite orange soda as a kid)
  • McDonald’s snack wraps
  • Jell-O pudding pops
  • CD players/speaker systems (lol)

Omg! I forgot about the chicken (grilled or fried) snack wraps! So good with ranch!!

I was nearly addicted to the fried chicken/ranch version.

In the 2000s, I lived in Nashville. There was a McDonald’s half a mile away from me that – I kid you not – sold Big Macs for 99 cents. So I would grab a couple Big Macs for $2 and a snack wrap for $1.50 or whatever the price was, and be OTD with over a pound of food for under $4 after tax. Those were the days.

A name that sounds like an ethnic insult may not be good for its popularity.

Every McDonald’s meme on Facebook
I ask them to put the Snack Wraps back on the menu.

Is it at all possible to scape the filling off Oreos and use the cookies?

The Nabisco chocolate wafers were not nearly as sweet as all the suggested substitutes.

My S22 is a very picky eater. One of his main foods was the nasty Totino’s Cheese Pizza Stuffers - sort of a giant pizza roll. The company has discontinued in the last month and I groaned. Before, we could only find at Walmart’s and would buy in bulk whenever we saw in stock. I would think our family alone would have kept the item in production!
So this week I have been trying to find some possible substitute. Hotpockets are a big no. I’ve been looking online and in stores for anything that may work.
Good times.

Costco Kirkland shredded pork

I microwaved a portion in paper towels (just like I did with Chinatown roasted ducks, to get out the bulk of the fat) and then sauteed with TJ roasted peppers and Kirkland bacon bits. Delish!

Trader Joe’s used to make Gravensteen apple sauce - nice and tart. One day - just gone!!! There’s no suitable replacement.
