There’s a stain cleaner that I like–Carbona Stain Devils. There are individual products for various types of stains. I think the one for Oil and Grease is the best, and I used to buy it from in my local grocery store, but it’s no longer available at any of the stores where I regularly shop. I found it on Amazon and stocked up on it. Carbona also sells the oil/grease stain remover online but I can often get it for less from another vendor on Amazon.
Wow, it sounds like “icebox cake” means different things in different families! For ours we layer chocolate pudding and graham crackers, which soften and absorb the pudding. Eaten with or without whipped cream/cool whip.
My family’s twist is to add a layer of vanilla pudding as the middle layer. My sister’s family mixes in chocolate chips into the pudding. I imagine mom is smiling down on her kids and grand kids as they continue her tradition.
We had a distant cousin who came over to visit us and we served her icebox cake. She got home and raved about it, but her mother couldn’t find it in any store! A quick phone call between her mother and ours passed the recipe to another branch of the family.
Kiddie- it’s not just Victoria… I wore an Olga bra for 20 years (up and down in size through pregnancies, weight gain and loss-- but the same bra, different size) until it was discontinued. It took several years to find a replacement- and then during Covid, bye-bye replacement. I’m sure if I had three days to spend in a fitting room at Kohl’s and then Macy’s and then Nordstrom I would eventually find another.
But seriously…
Amen. Or just … any kind of salad.
Sometimes to make myself feel better about eating a thousand calories of junk, I would get a side salad. Or, rarely, one of their $6 grilled chicken salads.
I could go on and on about McD’s – The Arch Deluxe burger; Big N Tasty (for $1… $1.50 w/cheese); the Angus line of burgers; Chicken Selects; etc. So many good things that, I guess, not enough people bought.
Maybe we need a new thread called “Icebox Cake Recipes.”
Wendy’s used to sell a grilled chicken sandwich. They no longer sell this. It was a go to fast food.
Most fast food places have abandoned their grilled chicken.
KFC has a grilled chicken option, I was sad when they stopped. It was very tasty.
I know chick-fil-a does. Not close to one very often.
…like the Artisan Grilled Chicken sandwich at McD’s, which was awesome. Okay, I’ll henceforth shut up about McDonald’s.
ETA:
Burger King has changed their chicken sandwich lineup so many times in the last couple decades that I’ve lost count. My favorite version was the Tendercrisp line back in the 2000s. They had a cheddar-ranch-bacon one that was just awesome.
And look, it’s Hootie/Darius Rucker!
This reminded me of Trader Joe’s frozen pizza crust. Just one day gone. Ugh.
Trader Joes is notorious for suddenly getting rid of products. Plus they have stuff only available seasonally that you would not consider seasonal items (so we are not talking about pumpkin spice stuff).
I ALWAYS ask my local TJ’s store manager when I fall in love with something. They can quickly check the database and let you know what’s slotted for permanent shelf space (or for as long as permanent can be given their business plan) and what’s seasonal.
But when their spices leave- they are really gone. I’m kicking myself I didn’t buy 12 bottles of their “mocha seasoning”. It was a coffee/chocolate combo with virtually no calories which tasted great on everything- plain yogurt, in coffee, sprinkled on grapefruit… just heaven.
My mom made layers of chocolate pudding and vanilla wafers, then topped with whipped cream. Yum.
She made banana pudding using coconut cream pudding, vanilla wafers, bananas and whipped cream.
I used to use that cookie dough every year too!
Pillsbury switched to a Reese’s version of their cookie dough which gets terrible reviews.
I have used this mix the last few years, and it’s almost as easy and tastes good…

Pillsbury has also made all their cookie dough safe to eat raw (it is noted on the package now). I guess this is because people used dough in things like cookie dough ice cream. I am sure they had to change the ingredients/recipe to make this claim.
