Is your student home?

D finally got home on Monday (school ended last Friday but she visited her bioDad before heading to our house). She’s only home for two weeks before going back for a 10-week research program but we are making the most of it. She had an awards ceremony last night (GS) and then an old-fashioned girls’ sleepover. They ate pizza and ice cream, watched a chick flick and a Disney movie. I heard the three of them laughing it up until the wee hours. These are her best middle-school friends, friendships that no doubt will last forever. They didn’t go to high school together and are in colleges in three different states and yet, it was like they were never separated. She plans to do it again this weekend with her best friends from high school ~ again, three girls all separated by college in three different states. She really has surrounded herself with some awesome friends and I’m really happy that, with everything else in her life, she has managed to foster these friendships.

Mine is home. She was home for 3 weeks and will be going back soon for an 8 week research program, and then coming home again for another 3 weeks.

Both of mine came home on Saturday! One is here for a week the other for two weeks before they head off to their respective research programs. I took the week off so I could spend as much time with them as possible. They will come home again in August and we will have 3 weeks together before they go back to school.

My Bear came home Sunday. Day 1- binge watched Dance Moms; Days 2 & 3- reading the Harry Potter series for the umpteenth time. 10 days until she starts her summer internship.

Mine is home. He is commuting this summer so no housing costs. Luckily his classes don’t start until 12:00 or later so he doesn’t have to deal with the Atlanta morning traffic. He will be here till August. My younger sons are happy to have him home for the summer.

Mine graduated on the 14th, but is staying to enjoy his college town until his lease is up at the end of the month. He’s staying at home until he moves to his grad school town at the end of July. I’m looking forward to those weeks, since he hasn’t really been home for long since his post-freshman year summer.

Both of mine will not be home until Mid June! Those quarter systems start late and end late.

Mine got home today with a giant mini fridge in the back of the Subaru because she couldn’t get it out and into the campus storage area of her next room. I have noted that my next child will get the small cube size mini-fridge so someone can carry it from here to there and there to here. D is only home for about 10 days then heading back to a full time summer job on campus and a night class. She was bored here within the hour of arriving and the whole town seems “weird” to her now!!
:frowning:

Mine lands at 11PM this Saturday for two weeks home before heading out to air assault school and then Camp Buckner prior to the academic year starting back up. We probably won’t see him again until Thanksgiving. I’m counting the minutes until I can rush him as he comes through security. Can’t wait for that first hug!

D1 is a 4th year Ph.D student many states away, so doesn’t really “come home” anymore, other than for short visits at holidays. She’s currently in France on an extended vacation. All that frugal living during the school year is paying off.

D2 will be starting a JD/MBA program in August, so will be living with us for the summer. Not home yet.

Enjoy your time with your kids.

Nope… rolled right into summer research on campus the day after graduation. I am flying down for a weekend to see her this Friday, though.

Nope, mine’s not coming home. He’s got a summer job in his college town (4000 miles away), then he’ll be heading to Scotland for the fall. Thank goodness for all of our electronic forms of communication! (Living out here in the middle of the Pacific has its downsides.)

S is at school in the UK this year and won’t be home until June 11th.

Mine has an opposite schedule than most–he commutes to college during the school year, so he is home all the time–and then in the summer he has an internship (paid) 2 hrs away. He lives near his job during the week. Still comes home most weekends though!

Yep arrived home Tuesday night and proceeded to fall into her bed and sleep for 14 hours. Then this morning jumped on a plane and headed out to visit a friend from middle school attending college in Denver. :frowning:

She will be with us until mid June and then her summer job starts which will take her back to Boston. I have a lot planned for those few weeks together though. Love that feeling of having the whole family together, even if just for a few weeks.

Yes! Yay!

My D1 has been home since 5/2, then will leave for internship on 6/5. My son(2015 college grad) will be in Sunday for our last high school graduation. Yes, I am about to be an empty nester, as my youngest is graduating high school. I am in my feelings about the whole thing. I swear I tear up several times, everyday, over the littlest things.

One is home and one isn’t done til June. Having one kid on semesters and one on quarters is a pain in the patoot. Though the one on quarters doesn’t really live at home anymore, so it doesn’t really affect us here at home.

She’s here for 3 weeks then gone for an internship for 9 weeks, then here for 3 again at the end. I’ll take what i can get!

D came home for 12 days and left Sunday morning back to school for a minimaster. She’ll be back the end of June for 5 hours.

S came home Sunday night and leaves in less than 2 weeks for a 10 week internship.

I wanted us to all be together but it’s also been nice to see them alone.
