is zoology the same case as marine science/oceanography?

so for oceanography, people (at least on CC) say major in a general science in undergrad and save oceanography/marine science for grad school.

is this the case for zoology? should one major in a general science in undergrad and “specialize” in a grad degree for zoology?

opinions?

Zoology is fine as a major at the undergrad level. Many of the required core courses for that major, e.g., genetics, evolution, ecology, etc. and the supporting science courses, e.g., gen physics, gen and org chem, calculus, are common to several bioscience majors and provide a grounding in core concepts of modern biology.
