I’m a young Muslim convert from NYC and I would like to study my religion, and the Arabic language in an academic setting. Because of family and money issues, I cannot “go away” for college and I have to commute. I just want to know what programs exist and where I should look.
I am a non-traditional student, I got my GED and went to community college where I obtained 45 credits, and then I stopped attending school because I had to support myself and my family. I’m in my early 20s and in a much better financial place then I was.
I’m studying Islam and Arabic with a tutor right now and it’s great, but a real academic environment is optimal for learning.
