Isn't that special

My son has not had a chance to talk to his GC and we are not sure what/if anything to do.
He was deferred ED at his dream school and they stated that if he does anything truly special (I assume winning an Oscar or Pulitzer or something) he should let them know during the RD round. He hasn’t really done anything major like that BUT he just found out that he has been picked to intern next month at a U.S. Congressman’s office. Is this noteworthy enough, or not really?

I’d definitely let them know. Every little bit helps.

Definitely noteworthy. Let them know.

It can’t hurt, especially if you can describe how the selection process went (e.g. probably not a plus if you happen to be a friend of the family.)

I agree with everyone else here – send the update. By fax, with a cover letter that re-affirms his intent to enroll at the ED school if admitted.

that could be a sitcom plot. “he has 4 months to come up with something brilliant for his dream school.” and all the crazy schemes he would try to do to get in.

when all he had to do was let them know of his internship…

Now, if he can only write and introduce a bill in Congress . . . :-)

I don’t think he’ll be writing any bills as he will probably be spending his days sharpening pencils and fetching coffee  Thanks for the link to the blog. I also happened to find a link to an old article you wrote about deferrals - very interesting!

“It can’t hurt, especially if you can describe how the selection process went”

Not anything extraordinary - the seniors turn in their resumes to do their capstone projects for the Spring, and sometimes they get picked to intern with someone high profile. I WISH I could say we knew this person, but no, not a family friend :)
