Are phrases like “it is pleasure that I recommend so or so” dull?
I think that’s the intro to one of the LoRs a prof wrote for me.
There’s no adjectives like “sincere pleasure,” or “great pleasure.”

In the ending paragraph, the prof included “highly recommend.”

I honestly don’t think that makes as much of a difference as the letter itself-- your prof’s experiences with you are far more lasting than the inclusion/exclusion of one adjective.

I wish people would stop analyzing their professors’ recommendation letters…this is why it’s a good idea not to let recommendees see your letters in the first place. In any case nobody is going to agonize over the exact language that they use, especially whether or not the phrasing is “dull” or not.
