“CSS only admits around 30 students every freshman year”

If I am only obsessed by CSS, should I still ED2 Wesleyan?(“only” is not true, but CSS is indeed a decisive factor!)

it varies each year depending on how many people apply. some years everyone will get in, other years there may be a long waitlist. this year I think around 8 people didn’t get in. I don’t know exactly what the criteria are, but it mostly has to do with your apparent level of interest in social sciences and taking enough econ classes.

I wouldn’t recommend applying ED if the only thing about Wes you’re attracted to is CSS, but otherwise it’s up to you.

If there were only 8 people didn’t get in i.e. there were only around 40 applicant this year???

yeah, something like that. but I’ve also heard one year only 15 applied, while another year something like 60 applied.

It seems that I have over-estimated the number of people applying…

I don’t think a lot of people apply. It’s kind of self-selecting in that it’s supposed to be very intense and a lot of work, so only people who are pretty dedicated to the program are going to apply. It’s probably competitive, but not a particularly popular program, because of its heavy workload and the fact that you could just major in one of the social sciences and take classes in the other areas you like instead of CSS.

Go for it if you want, but it’s probably not a good idea to choose a school based on one program.
