It seems as if Will Smith was accepted to MITES

From wikipedia(although not a trusted source, it is cited):
While it is widely reported that Smith turned down a scholarship to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), he never applied to MIT,[8] although he was admitted to a “pre-engineering program” there.[9] According to Smith, “My mother, who worked for the School Board of Philadelphia, had a friend who was the admissions officer at MIT. I had pretty high SAT scores and they needed black kids, so I probably could have gotten in. But I had no intention of going to college.”[10]

Well, he had more to gain by not going. Look at this blog: [MIT Admissions | Blog Entry: “Famous people who didn’t go to MIT”](http://www.mitadmissions.org/topics/misc/miscellaneous/famous_people_who_didnt_go_to.shtml)

“Finally, before you ask – the rumor that movie star Will Smith was admitted to MIT is unfortunately not true. He never applied, but if he had, who knows?”

hehe. what a loser he turned out to be.

I will see if we still have records from back then…

Did we find anything Chris? I am curious if he really got into MITES @.@

It sounds like he was accepted to MITES, but I don’t think he went. So I doubt there would be records of that.

there were no records. and i am not sure if MITES was actually around back then. but yeah i checked, and no records one way or the other.

MITES started in 1975, so it was around when Will Smith was in high school.

MITChris, you are the man.

For the record, it was rumored that I was offered the lead role on Fresh Prince, but I decided to turn it down. That role went to Will Smith, and I went to MIT.

The rest is history.

^lol (10char)
