Well we’ll be off to nyc on Sunday. S wants to eat someplace in Little Italy. Spaghetti, family friendly, reasonably priced. Suggestions from cc experts?

There is an amazing place called Eataly in NYC that has good food and everything Italian for preparation of food/drink. Not in Little Italy, rather at Madison Square.

There’s not much of actual Little Italy left, and the restaurants there are mainly tourist traps. You can get much better Italian food elsewhere in the city. There’s a good place not far away (in the West Village), [Piccolo Angolo](http://www.piccoloangolo.com/).

There’s a very nice place on Thompson Street called “Portobello” and a place on MacDougal called “Monte’s”. Both are very traditional Italian and have been there for years. You really cannot go wrong with either. If you are looking for something more upscale, trendy and more expensive, "Da Silvana "(SP?) located on 6th Avenue is great. Enjoy.

My favorite place is called Lunella…it’s really very good.

We ate at [Da Gennaro](http://www.dagennarorestaurant.com/#!) on the corner of Hester and Mulberry Sts last month. It was definitely a tourist trap but kinda fun. We had lunch at a table by the window and enjoyed watching the barkers. The food was so-so, the atmosphere lovely and the beer cold. We enjoyed it, but would not make a special trip. Had great Italian food at Trattoria Dopo Teatro near Times Square the night before.

Well we all enjoyed NYC. Sunday, D and I shopped until we either dropped or froze. S and H went to central park and the Met. We ate at SPQR, which was very good if a bit pricey. Monday we went downtown, to ground zero, wall street, etc. It was pretty cold so we taxied back to times square and hung out there. Who knew there could be a whole store (3 floors!) dedicated to M & M’s? We ate at John’s Pizzaria, which was also really good, reasonable, and super efficient. Returned home at midnight, dropped S off at his school and collapsed by 1 am.

Thanks to all here for the helpful suggestions on food and shopping (some previous thread). :)
