Before first semester of senior year, I had a 3.9 UW GPA, 4.4 weighted GPA, blah blah. However, first semester senior year I receive 3 C’s, 2 B’s, 1 A (5 AP classes). Obviously, I had a lot of other stuff going on, particularly family, my parents had always been separated/lots of fighting but it got a lot worse and I had to basically take care of my brother a lot as my mom had to get a job, etc., etc. I included all this in the additional info. of my apps. but I can’t help but cringe everytime I see my report card. Is there anything else I can do or should I just wait and hope my schools are understanding?

I don’t think there’s anything else you can do at this point. What schools did you apply to?

Did you GC also include some remarks in his letter of recommendation that mention your difficulties Sr year? If not, ask him if he would send an additional letter to the colleges, or see if he would be willing to contact those admissions officers that he has a relationship with to explain what happened to you this year. Good luck!
