It's complicated with some gay friend. What to do?

So, I have a close friend who is gay. We’ve known each others for years and he’s like my little brother. He came out to me in 9th grade and I’ve stand by him ever since. We hang out all the times. Anyway, recently, I caught an episode from Nip/Tuck that is a bit too close to home. The girl and her gay friend were having one too many drinks and decided to blow each others’ head off because they were so miserable and single. Then, one of them chickened out while the other pulled the trigger. The girl survived from the shot, but her face needed reconstructive surgery. The guy later found someone, while the girl went through major surgeries. One day, she realized he wasn’t there for her anymore so she took him out, Annie Oakley style.
So now, whenever I’m around my friend, all I could think about is that episode. It’s very uncomfortable to the point where I want to start college immediately so I don’t have to see him anymore. Am I horrible? I can’t get that episode out of my head. At graduation, he brought me some flowers and said to me something along the line of me making new friends in college but try not to forget him. I wanted to cry. School’s out for a week and we haven’t talked since. What should I do?

I think you should try to overcome your fear of talking to him. You’ll can still be friends, even far away. Besides, both of you have to come home for winter break.

But how exactly does that Nip/Tuck episode relate to you? I should hope you don’t kill anybody…

wow…

it’s a movie, chillax.

it isn’t even a movie, it’s a tv show…

and aside from that, i don’t even understand why the show means anything to you? from the way it sounds, it wouldn’t have mattered if it was a gay guy or not…

list your status as “it’s complicated” on facebook

You need to realize that you guys wouldn’t ever try to shoot each other (at least I hope you wouldn’t). It’s a show. It’s not reality. It’s not going to happen to you.

wait, he tried to kill you but you didn’t try to kill him? i don’t get it. its just a tv show what makes you think he’d do that to you? this sounds like an incredibly stupid reason to break off your friendship.

Haha, it’s been listed as “it’s complicated” on facebook for 2 years.
Gosh, it’s a TV show. I’m neither crazy nor desperate. But the stupid show is freaking me out.

I don’t really understand, either. You’re worried that the same thing will happen to you and your friend? I honestly don’t see how the show relates to you (and one of my best guy friends is gay, too, so it’s not as if I don’t understand how “that” is).

Yeah can you please explain more about it. Like does it freak you out because you look like them or you and him have talked about something similar?

One time I had to dissect a cat and I couldn’t even look at or touch my dog for a week after that. It just freaked me out because the cat was the same size and color of my dog.

Well, the show used a certain term to describe the gal, and before that, I’d never consciously thought about it.
We don’t look like them, but does it matter?

Get off the internet and never watch TV again. You think too much.

the fact taht you called him ‘some gay friend’ makes it sound like you see him as just a gay guy and not as a person, like his being gay is what defines him. idk it just sounds kind of like you secretly dislike gay people

Never consciously thought about what!? Do you like your gay friend romantically or something…?

You really aren’t giving us enough information to help you.

What? I can assure you that is absolutely wrong. I don’t need to justify my position in this as there is no use.
The term to describe me, a ■■■ hag.
No, I do not like him that way.

huh??? I’m sorry but you make no sence. R u afraid people think of u as a ■■■ hag and are afraid to be assosiated with your friend now because of this???

It came out wrong. No, I’m not afraid of what people think. Besides, it’s the end of the road for all parties here (i.e. everyone is going off to college) This is just between my buddy and I.

kill him before he kills you

I second this comment.

Hah, now I feel bad bringing this up. We are not going for a showdown, Uma-Darryl Hannah style. We’re mellow kids with me being slightly neurotic.
