Still waiting…31 ACT. 4.4 GPA. Salutatorian. In state.

It has said evaluating for a couple weeks. I applied November 30

Last year OSU had 26,600 applicants, which was up 25% from 2009, in which there were 21,000 applicants.

Congrats to all that were admitted, and sorry to all those who were not
If you were deferred there is still a big chance that you will be accepted to main campus come April, so just wait it out.

Just as a reference, my friend was deferred to wait list. She was in state 25 and 3.7 with amazing ECs… that kind of shocked me?

No kidding Ohioeleven. I am starting to feel very grateful I got in last year. I wonder if applications will jump another 25%? Maybe the ACT average of the next class will be 28.

This is crazy.

I actually just heard yesterday that so far the average ACT of applicants accepted to OSU for 2011 rose one point to 28. Very thankful I got in… From what I have heard they have really been focusing on those test scores.

by 2012, they want the ACT average to be 29, thats what the reps said when they came to my school so looks like theyre starting now…

Can you guys open this link?

It is a comparison of 2009 vs 2010 class stats. 2009 was 27.5 and this year was 27.8.
The biggest increase is in the number of international students admitted.

You have to scroll to the bottom to see the Columbus summary.

Ohioeleven I was deferred with the same stats, 9 EC’s with roles in leadership, 3 major volunteer organizations, I founded a local charity group, involved in multiple leadership programs and have had one of my photographs open an exhibit at Albright-Knox, this areas art gallery. My ACT is low but I really thought everything else would make up for it. My GPA has gone up to a 3.8 uw… I don’t know what else there is to do

it looks like they really are putting more weight on test scores…porbably because you can really compare people better with them. cmmcginn…i think you were deferred also cause your out of state:/ anyway you can retake the act in feb? with those ec’s and gpa, i really think you will get in by april…write them saying how much you want to go there…it will make you stand out. im sorry, im still waiting for my decision, 28 act 3.4 gpa great ec’s although doesnt look liek they r looking at ec’s enough…

Still waiting - application complete on 12/1

@foogud

I agree with you. I think OSU is highly driven by standardized test scores. But for sure don’t give up. I got in off the waitlist.

New York does not offer the ACT in feb… The closest ACT in feb for me in is Canada…

whattt thats crazy…theres an SAT jan 22nd?

I would be better off going to Canada… My SAT was not even close

I applied 11/29 and got accepted 1/5, so to those of you that are still waiting, I’m sure you’ll get a decision soon!
goodluck!

reading thru past few posts about scores and just out of curiosity, what is a 28 on the act compared to the sats? bc i only ever took sat and thats really the only thing anyone takes around here

Google a SAT ACT conversion chart, and u can see

those arent always really accurate since there are 4 sections on the act…like it says i would have gotten like a 1250/1600 but if my math and reading scores were individually converted to out of 800, i would have gotten like a 1370…but im pretty sure OSU converts everyones scores to ACT…

Any idea wat a 1270 would be? (650math + 620CR)

itd be a 27!
