It's Friday the 13th - "Blame Game"

I’m so sorry, MaineLonghorn. During my lurking days I had followed your story (at least the most recent chapter) and I was deeply moved by it. I’m so very sorry that things have taken a turn for the worst.

Have you read Elyn Saks’s book? Despite a schizophrenia diagnosis, she became a law professor and achieved success beyond any possible imaginings. She also found love – she married an incredibly compassionate man. She’s an acquaintance of mine and the book may have painted an overly rosy picture of how well she had “passed” as healthy. But I think it may provide a glimmer of hope that the darkest days are not necessarily a preview of every day for the rest of your life.

I’m feeling your wallowing tonight, MaineLonghorn…so sorry.

Son flew to Chicago to be in a friend’s wedding yesterday. Robbed shortly after he arrived at about 10 in the morning. Those nearby just looked the other way. Could be worse: he’s not hurt, just upset and minus a laptop.

That’s awful @ignatius . Hope he’s not too shaken.

Whoa! Robbed at the airport? Or in the city? So sorry! My s’s spend every other week in that city! Now scared for them!

He planned to take the train from the airport. The robbery happened as he got ready to board the train, so I guess he was still at the airport.

Which airport? O’Hare? Midway? So sorry!

Went to a “Friday the 13th” themed party last night. The host had a large decorated step ladder over the walkway in front of his house, forcing people to walk *under the ladder/i to enter his house.

O’Hare. What shocked him most was time of day - 10-ish in the morning and with onlookers who just … looked on. He’s tall (6 feet) and an experienced traveler - Germany, Denmark, France, Switzerland, … I could keep going. He hiked (alone) Hadrian’s Wall - all 84 miles. Nothing untoward has ever happened - till Chicago mid-morning. A Friday the 13th misfortune.

Yikes! I’m glad he is okay. I am always surprised when people just look the other way. I’m so sorry for your son, but hope the friend’s wedding was wonderful. I often fly through Midway when going other places, but choose O’Hare when visiting Chicago, as transportation to my final destination is easier from there. I’m not a fan of getting on the L.

Wow ignatius, not one person got involved…that is just as disturbing as bing robbed. My husband had that happen two years ago in Copenhagen airport, along with several others from his flight

And Maine Longhorn, I am really sorry for what you and your family are going through
