It's Friday the 13th - "Blame Game"

It’s Friday the 13th - I know I’ve had a “day” already! Figured I would take all mishaps today and blame it on the 13th - who has a today mishap to blame on the 13th???

My morning:

  • Alarm didn’t go off until 2 minutes until next person was due to use the bathroom
  • During my 30 second shower realized I forgot to bake 2 frozen pies last night that were needed this morning (run to basement, while oven is warming up, defrosted pies in microwave)
  • Burnt my 1/2 blueberry bagel in the work toaster…
  • Left for a meeting without important supplies - managed to rectify that…
  • Spilled coffee over my coat, pants and myself!

Ugh! Did manage exercise class without injury.

Any mishaps for you to blame on the 13th?!

Nope-13 is lucky number in my family. My sister was born on 3/13 and turned 50 on 3/13/13, AND I will have grand-nephew by tonight-on 3/13. So far everything is going swimmingly.

Every day of this month has seemed like Friday the 13th. :frowning:

My husband was born on Friday the 3th, so it’s a lucky day here too.
A grand nephew!

My mother was born on Friday the 13th, so we’ve always looked at it as a positive day!

My car wouldn’t start and I burned my bagel in the work toaster too! BUT 4/13 is my anniversary and it sometimes is on a Friday – so it is typically a great day for me!

It’s a LUCKY day in our family. My absolutely fabulous daughter was a Friday 13th baby. Son was the Ides of March, but he’s another story

just sayin: “I aint superstitious”

It’s bad luck to be superstitious, so I avoid it.

Nothing bad yet and I’m hoping to keep it that way  I don’t like Friday the 13ths…

Uh oh–I didn’t realize it till I just now read this…and the day has been going so well.

Like Maine Longhorn, my month has been filled with Friday the 13ths…Sunday is the Ides of March, so I am hoping for a turnaround.
Nothing burned , but we lost part of a contract today for our business. It might be for the best though
I hope the troubles for my children work themselves out

My son born on friday 13th. Wasn’t the mythical Harry Potter?

If you don’t have a schizophrenic child, you should count every day a blessing. (Sorry, I’m just wallowing tonight.)

So sorry for your challenges, ML. You and your family deserve calm, peacefulness and happiness.

I feel bad for admitting that Friday the 13th has been a great day for me, since elementary school. And I met my DH on a Fri the 13th. He met my parents on a Fri the 13th. The Fri before our weekend wedding was his father’s birthday- Fri the 13th. We celebrate every Fri the 13th, including today. ANd DS is getting married in a few mos-- on the 13th. Happy days.

I think Harry Potter’s bday is July 31. Of course - the 13th backwards.

Day is almost done - no more fiascos!!!

Well, Caltech released decisions today. I think U Chicago to follow. So many hopes fulfilled and others crushed.

ML, I wish I could beam up to your house and give you a hug, or at least a Margarita. You would probably prefer to beam down here to FL and get a break.

Harry born July 31, 1980. July 31 is also Rowlings’ b/d.

MaineLonghorn, ((hugs)). I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to have a child with such an challenging illness. I grew up with a first cousin whose erratic and often bizarre behavior was later explained by a diagnosis of Paranoid Schizophrenia. I have two other close relatives who have Bi-polar disorder. And until a few years ago, I was plagued with periodic bouts of severe clinical depression (as is my son from time to time). It often amazes me how little progress (relative to the treatment of other diseases) we’ve made in addressing mental illness. Sometimes, it actually feels like we’ve lost ground on that front…

As for Friday the 13th, I don’t recall ever having had a particularly bad one. It just seems to come and go like any other ordinary day. I sometimes wonder about the origin of that superstition.

ML, I don’t recall the specifics-I had thought your S had bipolar, but in any case, I have a dear friend who is bipolar and it honestly took her until she was 40 to find the right combination of support services, medication, work and living situation to become stable. Of course it’s different when it’s a friend and not a child but mental health issues really can be overwhelming and it never appears that there are enough services out there. I hope YOU and you H are also getting support. An organization that started here in WA that seems to be out in front on supporting families is NAMI. Best wishes to you and your family.
