It's September 11th

It’s Septmber 11th, and frankly, I’m not very impressed with the progress we’ve made since that fateful day. I am, of course, thinking of Hurricane Katrina and our unorganized response. Every 9/11 anniversary had brought promise of our newfound readiness in the face of disaster, but this time, it just brings disappointment. Does anybody else share my reaction?

I’m more concerned about the debt rather than the dead.

I’m sorry. I’m not psychotic, cynical, or depressed in anyway, and I’m sorry if I offended any who was affected by the hurricane, but it’s hard to imagine how we will manage with such debt.

Oh yeah that too, just the interest is gonna cost loads if we never begin to pay it off.

I’m actually more amazed at how a tragedy so devastating brings out the best in people. It kind of makes me feel even more patriotic/proud to be an American! It’s amazing why we do things for other people (even if it’s just a dollar or a pair of shoes). You could say Karma, but I think it might just be human nature… hmm…

 (sorry i’m just thinking about thousands of innocent people america has killed)
don’t mind me… im just really bored… and i’m not picking a fight or anything… i just want to type… (im procrastinating you see…)

werd NoFX…

NoFOX is right.

Don’t care

noFX

think about the thousands of people who are living a better life while you’re at it.

Oh right b/c we here in America are such poor 3rd world people. Sorry to burst your little bubble but there are hardly any areas in the world better off than America. Good thing it’s only thousands of people living better than me, than a million people.

I thank my lucky stars everyday that I was brought into this country where one doesn’t have to make it based on his social status or go through war (in the country, anways . . .). I came from Colombia, which has one of the highest murder rates in the world. I would have been an orphan, cast out of the orphanage at age 10. Most likely to join a gang like the Latin Kings or die. Who knows what has happened to the unknown family I left behind (I was adopted at 5 months old)? Who knows if they’re still alive? It isn’t a fun place to live.

I could be much worse off. But fortunately I can make my own destiny and not have to deal with what is handed to me.

^I’m not adopted or anything but I also thank whoever put me into this family/lifestyle/etc… I’m even grateful that I can read! I read somewhere that more than 70% of the world population cannot read :frowning:
Im grateful that I have a nice house and food on the table! And I’m even more grateful for my parent’s decision to let me continue education in the states which probably will cost them 10 times as much as education here.

I like my life and I esp can’t stand those people who get food, loving family, the decision to make their dreams come true, etc… and they waste it on a pitiful suicide or complain every single day because their parents are uptight and won’t let them get a car or whatever dumb reason ughh

So many children in 3rd world countries don’t have half the chances as we do and some of us cannot appreciate that :frowning: I told one of my friends that 30,000 children die every day from poverty and he said, “so? It’s their destiny to die” and i was like " (blank) "
To each his own…

Sorry this is off the topic of september 11. But I was thinking about the families that were affected by it and supported them (in my head…) on the 11th.

Everything you just said, is like a oxymoron.

Now that Nofx is practicly an Emo band.

so what do you mean, because by listening to nofx you are those people who you cant stand.

uhhhhhhhhh what is that supposed to mean…?
who is the ‘you’ you are referring to?

as in you, Nofx, person who posted post #13.

pretty much what emo music is.

What? NoFX and emo? I don’t see a connection.

Are you upset that NoFX is someone who thinks more about the world than you and realizes what conditions people have to go through?

nofx=emo

sorry but they are.

It’s ironic how here in Canada/US, there are kids that hate going to school, and actually think that they should be paid to go to school. Compare that to other parts of the world where kids would do anything just to have the chance to attend school, because it means having the chance to live a better life.

NoFx isn’t being emo. if anything he’s being the opposite. he/she posted

the emo people would be the ones that waste their lives “on a pitiful suicide” and complain stupidly about their parents. NoFx is criticizing those people, so how would that make NoFx emo?

lol the band NoFX is emo, according to Lauren
NoFX, the poster, jane, is not emo, she’s grateful for what she has
But Lauren thinks thats a contradiction because according to her, the band is emo, however the poster that supports the band (jane) is not

well yeah i know NoFx the band is emo. haha. i was referring to NoFx the poster not being emo, since someone said her post was.
