It's the little things in life

@doschicos post #5. All of them.

That amazing super fresh “water” smell that you only get a few days a year, when you go outside and it’s really cold, but not too cold. I smelled it yesterday, and it was so good. I asked my son, who was out getting firewood, if he smelled it too. He hadn’t noticed it, so we opened a window together and smelled it again. Priceless.

Sitting in my favorite comfy chair curled up with a good book

I like every post on this thread…

Drinking my morning coffee while reading my morning paper.
Going for a walk or run outside, breathing in the fresh air and noticing the trees, flowers. birds, change of seasons, etc.
Feeling a hot shower after a hard workout.
Seeing a beautiful sunrise or sunset.
Reading a really great book.
Hearing/reading something that makes me laugh out loud.

Those books that you just don’t want to end are a real gift.

Making a baby laugh.

Taking my puppy outside at 5:00 AM and hearing my neighbors wind chimes, which we both pause to listen to.

And along the same lines, my puppy entertaining me with his antics to make me laugh every day.

That first warm day in spring when you smell the thawing earth and can’t wait to get your hands in it to plant your seedlings. The first bulbs pushing up and and the first robin.

That dead-tired satisfaction when you’ve dusted, swept, vaccuumed, bathed the dog and mopped all day and you throw the last bucket of dirty water down the loo.

And the smooth floor on your bare feet the next morning once you’ve had a good night’s sleep.

On a pleasant, sunny spring day, sitting by a slow moving stream, observing a rainbow trout rise to the surface to take a mayfly drifting by…

The pure love and joy in my old dog’s eyes when I ask her if she wants to go for a walk.

A morning walk to work in the rain.

A Facetime chat with son & daughter in law on the other side of the world. [OK, that one’s both joy & tears.]
