BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) – Indiana University expects another large freshman class this year, including many students who did well in high school and scored high on college entrance exams.

“It’s been a great year,” said Roger Thompson, the university’s vice provost for enrollment management. “It just raises the bar for next year.”

Administrators have pushed for more selective admissions at the school’s Bloomington campus. The number of top-level Indiana students with grade-point averages of at least 3.5 and SAT scores higher than 1,200 who indicated they plan to attend IU rose 15 percent, Thompson said.
