IU Kelley Petition Question

Hi everyone, I just got accepted to Indiana University Bloomington! My only concern is that I did not get a direct admit to Kelley. I have a 92.9 (or 93, I honestly forgot)/100 gpa and my school doesn’t weight or rank and I have a 1530. I was accepted to Pre-Business but I didn’t get a direct admit to Kelley. I plan to try to submit a petition request, but I wanted to ask you all if it was worth it. Are my stats competitive enough for me to be accepted to Kelley off petition, or if I end up matriculating there should I just go and transfer in? I’m not 100% sure I want to do business but it’s definitely one of my top choice majors and being able to start at Kelley would be awesome. Thanks so much for any help and have a great rest of your day!

It depends on how they see the 93. Is that weighted or unweighted ? If they calculate it to a 3.8, you’ll get a DA.

If not, yes petition - why not ?

Or go to a different school where you get a DA.

There’s another thread where a student couldn’t get in - why take that chance when you can study elsewhere.

But petition for this year but perhaps they just have issued the DA acceptance yet.

It’ll depend on how they equivilate your GPA to a 4 point scale.

I’m not sure, my school doesn’t weight at all which is quite frustrating. I know that they have released DA acceptances because some friends from other schools have gotten theirs back. I’ll probably just end up submitting a petition request, it can’t really hurt

you should get in

Yes, IU has released some EA decisions so far.

Contact IU Kelley admissions today and ask them how they convert the 92.9/93% GPA to a 4 point scale GPA (know your exact 6 semester GPA as it’s shown on your transcript when you call.) That is right on the borderline where some schools would convert that to a 3.7, which wouldn’t qualify for you for DA so you would have to petition. IU will not apply any weight for rigor to your unweighted GPA. Due to the number of students qualifying for DA, the petition acceptance rates have decreased quite a bit over the past couple of years, so that is not a sure thing.

Good luck.

For anyone in a similar situation to me—literally didn’t do anything and they accepted me as a direct admit. Try waiting it out for a bit!
