IU Kelley Petition Tracker 2024

If a student already meets the DA criteria, does that mean the direct admission to Kelley is more or less certain?. The thought is to present the best possible profile.

If you meet the stats and apply by Nov 1, you are assured a direct admit spot. No need to petition. Just be patient. (Tough, I know!)

Historically, being near the stats on petition was enough time get in on petition. We don’t know the exact requirements this year (it’s holistic) but Kelley will admit thousands of students this year
there is still lots of time and lots of space in the class.

My daughter was admitted yesterday with a nice welcome email. University division and pre-business. There was absolutely no mention of her review request that she submitted Nov. 6. I’m hoping they just haven’t looked at the requests yet, but it’s very frustrating that they wouldn’t even mention the reviews!!

I think you are right – – based on the timing of when you submitted the review request, they probably haven’t made a decision yet.
I do think there are a number of small tweaks IU could make to their admissions decision announcements that would reduce stress for students and parents. One would be an indication of whether or not the student is in a review process for DA to any specific program.
Congrats on the admit!!

We are in the same boat. I think the Kelley review is seperate and the main site wont be udpated until a decision is made by Kelley after the review

DS just forwarded his IU admissions text/email. Says he is pre-business and that he needs to go to the University Division Page for details on that. Is that just in his IU portal? Do we have any idea what the timing for the review is at this point? He didn’t submit his review request until mid Nov. unfortunately. (Got sick and essay burnout :unamused:

There is a decent chance Kelley will reply to zero review requests until post 2-1. The next date to look to is around Dec 15. If not by then, I have doubts it happens at all until 2-1. I wrote earlier that the debate was whether Kelley would create a “wait list” or just wait to answer. They’ve chosen the later for now.

IU will receive 50,000 more applications over the next 45 days. And 8-10k of those will petition to Kelley. IU promised an answer by Jan 15 if you early actioned - Kelley did not.

We as students and parents create the stress. Admissions is going to admission, we want things it is not.

I haven’t seen anything about the timing of review requests on this board or elsewhere. My guess is that they have a number of direct admit offers they are planning to give during the regular admissions cycle (not including waitlist). And my guess is that this number is somewhere around 6000 based on past numbers of offer/yield and based on the numbers they want to see on campus next fall. So to get to that number (or whatever number they target—I’m totally guessing on the 6k), they need to see how many kids are getting DA offers based on auto admit stats. The difference between the target number, and the auto stat number, is how many offers they can give to kids on petition.
I would expect Kelley to begin admitting on petition as soon as it gets a handle on that number. And I would expect them to reserve a fair number of slots until late in the admissions season in case they get some really good petitions coming in at the end of the cycle. But all this is based on past practices, and logic. And I’m not sure IU is following past practices or logic this year. :joy:
Again, past experience
Kelley historically has offered two direct admit days at the end of March. I would expect all or almost all of the DA offers to be out before those DA days.

My daughter exceeded the DA stats and applied by Nov 1, but was required to petition because she attended two high schools. Does anyone know why there is such a concern with attending
two high schools? We moved for work.
Best wishes to everyone applying!

I don’t think it is a “concern”. I think the automated system isn’t set up to deal with two GPA inputs. No human is looking at the auto admit stats and awarding direct admission. It’s an algorithm based on inputs.

I think once a human at Kelley looks at your daughter’s file and sees that she has direct admit stats, she will be admitted.

Since the direct admit day is at the end of march. Thers is still time in the next three months to go through the petitions. My guess is they want to pool up the petitions and review. Petition admit to kelley is getting harder every year
it was relatively straighforward two years ago.

My son got into Kelley today. He applied on 10/30.

Congratulations. He did the Kelley review on 10/30? How did they notify him – email?

Did he get in via direct admit or from a Kelley review?

Also, when did he get admission to IU? Or a direct admit email from Kelley?

My daughter just looked back at her portal from when she submitted the review request Nov. 6. The response was she would hear from Kelley by April 14. So we are putting it out of our minds for a while and wait to hear from the other schools. :sleepy:
