Much appreciated!
Do we know if anyone has heard on Appeals yet for 2025? My son applied November 1st.
I’ve been looking for it and haven’t seen a single post anywhere that an appeal has been granted despite prior years threads showing some rolling decisions in Dec and Jan.
It is looking like they are not going to take action on those until the Feb 1 deadline, potentially because they appear to be totally innundated with just processing the first round applications. This also probably means appeals will be less likely to be granted due to probable greater volume of DA.
I hope that is not true becuase it’s currently my son’s first choice if he gets the waiver but trying to figure out second choice from all his other direct admits in case. He was admitted in early Dec after applying Nov 1 but has not heard anything since - merit aid, waiver, nothing.
The process changed this year. The proportion of petitions that have been granted has been falling over the last couple of years. IU may or may not start reviewing/acting on petitions before Feb 1. It probably depends on how direct admits they’ve made, and the yield they expect from those.
Make sure you understand which applicants need to file the petition, it’s more than just those who don’t meet the DA criteria.
Please be aware the Kelley Admissions Committee is committed to providing a comprehensive review for all students. Therefore, due to the volume of applications, a notification decision may not be provided until April 14, 2025.
As has been discussed above, if the student really wants to study business, it may make sense to consider an acceptance where one is DA or has no barrier to entry for the desired major.
Yeah. We are unfortunately not hopeful which is crazy. My daughter is test optional but otherwise a stellar candidate. Even did a program for women in business with Indiana she was selected for last year and we’ve also visited campus. We are from MA. She’s been admitted for business and honors at several other schools. At first we thought many kids get in through petition and now not so much. It’s a shame bc they’ll lose some really great kids bc of random variables. I’m not saying TO is random but some of the other reasonings are. I also understand that a school has to draw the line somewhere and come up with their own process. It would seem most of the petition admits will be women and/or some other institutional priority as the DA process doesn’t account for anything but stats. It’s a way to even out the class. Alternatively my daughter applied to Cornell and they are test blind for business. Completely different approach to admissions. Then there’s the U Mich portfolio. I would have said Kelley was my top pick for my daughter overall at one point but we are warming up to the other schools. The size, competitive nature of Kelley and lack of placement in the northeast compared to other schools she’s been admitted to is making us reconsider. We will see. It’s a great school and program but this process has me scratching my head.
Hi, I am an out of state student who applied after November 1st and does not qualify for auto admit. I just found out about the Review Request and rushed to make my iu account as I hadn’t before. It says 24-72 hours and I did yesterday. Do you think I could put in the optional answer box that I am an out of state student and that is why I am submitting this so late.
I’m not certain, but my sense from reading guidance is that as long as you get your petition in before Feb 1, when you got it in doesn’t factor. As far as I can tell, it isn’t rolling before the deadline. My daughter’s IU account was set up within hours of submitting – the 72 hr max might just be there for weekends. There’s a chance they’ll have yours set up during business hours this morning.
I agree with the above poster, and hope your account is setup by tmr.
Separately many schools track not only when a student creates their account after applying, but how often they access their account. (Talking about schools where demonstrated interest is part of the admissions decision)
So…if you haven’t setup your account at the schools where you’ve put in apps, go do that ASAP.
Good luck.
How do we know when a Request Review has been reviewed by Admissions? My son sent his in early December (he applied EA).
You won’t know when it’s reviewed. At some point they will begin rolling out decisions. All the website says is that applicants might not receive their petition decision until April 14.
Do you think that applies to EA applications ? April seems very late for students who applied before Nov 1.
Yes
I guess we shall see! The email my son received on Jan 16 said he will be notified between Jan 16 and mid-Feb.
That’s encouraging!! My daughter never got an email. It confirmed she submitted it but no other information.
Kelley typically likes to release acceptances of the reviews prior to Direct Admit days which are in March. Therefore they can get kids to visit and make decisions.
Makes sense, time will tell how many openings they have/have projected for the DA class and that will drive when they can start accepting some of those who petitioned for DA.
That’s definitely encouraging, but I haven’t heard anyone else mentioning such an email. When did you petition?
I guess most folks petitioned back in Oct/Nov, so they gave conservative estimates, but now as they are closer to deadlines, perhaps for recent petitions they are giving more realistic estimates. But I’d be surprised they’d tell from Jan 16th, since they clearly mention on their site that review process will not begin before Feb 1st and there’s no advantage in applying sooner than that. Definitely something is OFF about your update.
“Something is OFF.” What an unhelpful comment!
My son received the email Jan 16 from International Services. 9am.
He applied mid-October and petitioned early December as he applied TO. As an EA applicant, it was reported by IU that he would hear a decision “on or before Jan 15” - the dates were not different for those who petitioned and those who did not. However, on Jan 15 when he did not get a decision, he patiently waited until the morning of the 16th and he was going to call the AO. Thankfully the school emailed him first and provided the info of the delay.
There’s a thread where a student posted the exact email; perhaps on the IU Megathread? Sorry I can’t remember! But a few international students mentioned on a thread that they received the email.
Oh I think these are two separate things. I think you are referring to admission to Indiana and the other poster is referring specifically to the review request process.
OP started the thread asking about the review request timeline.
Didn’t mean to be unhelpful or offensive. My apologies if I made you feel bad. I only meant to say that the timelines mentioned by you don’t align with what we’ve been hearing so far. Not sure why you singled out just two words and made it out of context to my broader post.
