I am stuck between these schools. They are the same price. I know IU is much higher ranked but I am in love with TCU and feel that is the best fit. I am from the northeast so networking from tcu in the north may be tough if I want to come back. Any input would be great thanks.
I think you overrate the benefits of schools like IU. There are no guarantees.
You answered your own question so not sure why you are asking?
There are people from both schools in the Northeast and networking doesn’t have to just consists of people from your college.
Enjoy Fort Worth…it’s a fine school and I wish you a great experience.
If it’s the best fit and it’s the same cost, then TCU.
Only caveat is if you’re prochoice, especially if a girl since the region is inhospitable to legal pregnancy termination (might also matter if you’re a boy who doesn’t want to have to pay child support while in college).
Thank you. It’s not guaranteed but the recruiting is so much better it seems. It’s also ranked top ten undergrad and tcu top 60. That’s why it’s tough.
Check poets and quants. You will be fine.
Enjoy your life as a Frog!
Is poets and quants a reliable source? Ive heard us news to be the best
To some extent Is anything reliable? Every individual’s circumstance will be different. You will have kids from Texas Tech do better than kids from Rice. Nothing is absolute.
Thank you
They are both great schools. IU Kelley is definitely better in the Business category. If you are thinking about Business, I would say IU Kelley. You could probably make more connections meeting people there.
Define better? It’s higher ranked in a magazine and some websites. That’s not better. It’s larger - in fact very large.
The overall dynamic is quite different.
Remember, those that make it to Wall Street - and a quick linkedin search show they do from both - ok, IU will have more - but for 95% of kids at most b schools - end results are going to be similar…ie they have a regular corporate job - and those typically pay the same regardless of where you went to school. That’s based on company and location.
Not to mention you have to spend four years somewhere day after day after day.
@Paul45 clearly feels that TCU is the best fit and he’s in love with it (never a good thing to fall in love with a school).
In this case, TCU is the better school…certainly based on the info OP has provided.
It just seems that most people are from the west coast. I hope there are enough people from the northeast. Thanks for the input I believe the smaller class size is a big plus. I’m not sure why Kelley has 10k undergrads when schools like U Florida have 3500 or U Michigan with even less.
It’s their niche. At one point Business Week was the “US News” of rankings - and in 1998 when I got my MBA - Kelley was ranked 6th or 7th - I ended up at ASU which was #40 because it was right for me (wasn’t going to strangle me in debt).
I’ve done fine. My general manager has no degree. My boss has an MBA from Memphis. Her counterparts graduated undergrad from Utah and the other from nowhere - or maybe a two year trade school - I never got a straight answer. These are people all making over $200K.
I have counterparts - some with online MBAs like Phoenix, a Vanderbilt, a Columbus State, an Indiana, Michigan and several with just undergrad.
And we have analysts, specialists - that are from UF, Ga Tech, West Georgia (which I hadn’t heard of), Kennesaw State (an MBA), Ogelthorpe and Clayton State (MBA).
That’s just real life. This over analysis of “which is better” doesn’t relate to 95% of the world out there (in my opinion).
Good luck.
I was just stating my opinion just as you did.
I appreciate your opinion as well. Thank you
Why isn’t it good to fall in love with a school just curious haha
