i've got blisters on my fingers, just kidding. chances for stanford RD?

<p>asian male (not to my advantage >.<)
one of the top public high schools in California </p>

<p>(since stanford doesnt really factor in 9th grade)
UW GPA ~3.77 with the hardest classes and a school that tends to deflate grades
Weighted 4.33 (4.375 if i weigh the hist class i believe has honors credit)
decent upward trend ever since i got a 3.4 UW my 1st sem sophomore year
I have taken several APs, and should hit 11-13 APs by the end of this year (considering taking AP Euro and World Hist and maybe Psych in addition to the 10 i will have taken in HS) </p>

<p>Other Coursework:
CSULA Summer Quarter 2003-3 Physics and Chemistry classes at CSULA under an Early Entrance Program and got a 3.7 gpa
CSULA Summer Quarter 2007-2 Astronomy Courses and 1 Euro Hist 4.0 gpa</p>

<p>ECs:
Track and Field (9th) - Pretty much won everything a freshman could in the league meets.
Yearbook (10th) - Sports Staff, was made the Sports Editor, but dropped it in 11th grade
Quizbowl (10th,11th,12th) - Captain Team A (part of 11th and 12th), Captain Team B (10th). Won, or came close to winning most of the tournaments we entered regionally, when to the National Competition last 2 years, and have qualified for this coming year. I’ve been one of the top scorers too.
Ocean Science Bowl (11th, 12th)-Got 3rd at the USC sponsored Ocean Sciences Bowl
Science Bowl (11th,12th) - Captain. 5th at the JPL competition last year
Red Cross (9th,10th,11th) - Should be over 100 hours
Juggling/Rubik’s Cube Club (10th-Present) -Vice President
Internship at a local Dental Office
Internship at local Aviation Company</p>

<p>Random Awards and Such:
CSF Gold Seal (pending)
AP Scholar with Distinction
Scholar Athelete
School Board Recognition Award (for Quizbowl)
Principal Honor Roll</p>

<p>Testing:
SAT I: 2250 (710 CR, 780 M, 760 W) not retaking this, but will take the ACT one more time
ACT: 34 (E:34 M: 35 R:36 S:32)
SAT Subject Tests:
Bio M-750, Math IIC -800, Physics-780, US History-800
taking chinese in nov, may be retaking bio and may take world history</p>

<p>Automatic reject? Then again, Stanford accepted like 5 or 6 people from my school last year, some with similar GPAs but slightly higher SAT scores and others with worse scores and higher GPAs. Should I go for it SCEA?</p>

<p>There’s no need to take any more subject tests. They’re already practically perfect. No way are you an automatic reject.</p>

<p>You sure don’t need to take any more tests…</p>

<p>(If you get in, you may want to take Chinese in the spring in order to satisfy the foreign language requirement…)</p>

<p>eh…i’m an asian male.</p>

<p>You realize that retaking a 34 ACT is attempting to raise a score already well above the 99th percentile?</p>

<p>well, i already signed up for it months ago even though it wouldve been nice to take the oct one because of that random 60 day retesting rule. I thought i wouldnt do too well on the ACT (because i didnt study). But yea, since i already paid the money, i’m thinking i might as well retake it to see what happens</p>

<p>since i dont think i’ll be rejected based on my test scores, how badly will my gpa hurt me? and are my ECs competitive relative to the other applicants?</p>

<p>yay 2340 on the dec sat, which also happens to be my super score.
too bad i’ll likely be reject =(</p>

<p>just wondering, Torrey Pines?</p>

<p>I don’t think you’re an automatic reject. Doesn’t hurt to apply.</p>

<p>you are going to have a better chance in RD than you would have in EA</p>

<p>good ecs, gpa could use work, but i think you definitely have a chance</p>

<p>Helter Skelter, perchance?</p>

<p>yeah, that’s all I have to contribute. You have most likely already applied or not applied, seeing as you started this thread 2 months ago.</p>

<p>lol turning in the app in like 3/4 days. thanks though</p>

<p>haha ditto eravial08</p>

<p>the beatles rock</p>

<p>yea they do. to think i was gonna name this thread for the benefit of mr. kite. haha. 12 or so applied SCEA at my school, only 1 admitted. maybe 1 or zero deferred</p>

<p>Weighted GPA is higher than mine, and your test scores are higher, and I got accepted EA. You have a pretty decent shot. Good luck!</p>
