I've got one year to improve this filthy 1650. Help!

Hello people,

I took the May SAT and got 1650. In the practice tests I took at home, I went up to ~1800 and hoped to reach there in the real SAT too. My score breakdown is -
CR - 500
MATH - 570
WRITING - 580

Now, I know I’ve got a lot to improve. I’m from India. For CR, I’ve started picking up books from here - [great books - book search, top 100 books](<a href=“Stay Motivated – BigFuture | College Board”>Stay Motivated – BigFuture | College Board) and read at least 10 pages a day. I’m done with Sherlock (all of them), To Kill a Mockingbird. I’ve around 5 books already in my shelf to be read. I will continue reading for the rest of year. Maybe read 2 books daily(20 pages/day?). This would account for the passages.

I’ve DH and almost done with the volume 1. I’ll get the second volume and finish it. That’d account for the sentence completions.

I’ve enough money of my own. Should I get RocketReview? Would it be worth it?

I messed up the Math section for some unknown reason and guess I could cover that up until I finish my high school (I’ll be taking a gap year. Right, I’m a senior now, will be done with high-school by March 2012).

For writing, I’m not sure. I’ve printed the section from Silverturtle’s and plan to study it extensively. Also, Sparknotes. Any more tips?

I’ll take Maths,Physics,Chemistry subject tests in June and hope to score good (since I do pretty well at them in school). I’ll take the SAT in September.

I aim to get ~2200. I’ve some awesome ECs (like a website I sold for $5k) and so wish to end up at some top-notch engineering school which will offer “some” financial aid.

So, is this all enough? Or is there anything else I should do that would promise raising of my score.

hey! so I’m a sophomore and my SAT score at this point in time is a 2130. there are a couple of things that you should do to ENSURE a good SAT score. yeah, 1650 is above the national average, but it wont get you into a good college. first of all, PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE! buy as many practice books as you can and take tons of online tests. we’re so lucky to be part of the technological revolution- everything can be accessed at our fingertips  so yeah, that can help with your strategy. math… that’s practice too. i cant say im not suprised about your nath score. seniors have typically been through all the math they need for the SAT (and a lot more), but that may just be your weak point. i would also suggest an SAT tutor? there are some cheap ones out there, and they’ll help get your score up as much as possible in the short amount of time you have left. haha i cant think of anything else at the moment, but i will post back if i do  good luck!! im from india too lawls :P

ill keep it short. you can get to a 2200. i went from a 1960 to a 2270. you can do it too if your semicompetant

Don’t take the blue book practice tests yet because you have a ot of work ahead of you. Don’t waste them yet. I’m not sure about the book reading thing… i mean the rhetoric used in beowulf isnt exactly modern day English.
