I've Never scored more than an eight

I have got 8 four times so far in my essays…And i have been wondering what to do in order to develop and strengthen my essay to get a higher grade in essay thus a higher grade in the writing section in the s.a.t.
It seems like it’s impossible to get a high grade (700+) without having an essay higher than 8
So if you please tell me what should i do to fix my essay * i can send any of my 4 essays or all four of em to anyone who is concerned*

Do you typically include a historical reference or literary reference in your essays?

No. I got a 750 with an 8 essay. Just get good at the multiple choice.

Well ya there is always 2-3 examples,I can show you my essays if you want

750 with essay 8?? how come,I got 640 with a raw score of 42 :S
and I don’t think it will be easy for me to get any higher raw score, After all English is just my second language

I can’t seem to get higher than an 8 either. I’ve included literary examples, personal experiences, just not historical references because they didn’t apply to the topics. I knew my first essay was done wrong after I spoke to my tutor but I thought my essay the 2nd time was SO MUCH better and it still got an 8.

I got a 670 the 2nd time by the way and a 640 the first. I got 4 MC wrong with my 670. If I’d gotten all questions right I would have definitely broken 700.

I am sure that with a perfect score i can break 700 but perfect score isn’t that easy…it’s easier to fix my essay i believe

Read more. Don’t make too many grammar mistakes on the essay. Write as much as possible within the SAT time frame. Practice. And as noimagination said, it’s definitely possible to get a score higher than 700 with a less than 8 essay!

And again, be careful about grammar when you write. Just in your previous two posts alone there are several major verb agreement and idiom errors that could’ve been easily avoided.

I’ve gotten 8 on my essay both times I took the SAT. I’m pretty sure time was the greatest issue for me. I feel like if i paced myself, I could’ve gotten a much better score. On the first SAT i finished about half of the essay, I didn’t even have a concluding paragraph and each scorer gave me 4 = 8. The second essay I pretty much rushed through the whole thing and I ended up getting it finished in time (although barely) and my examples were absolutely horrid.

Idk what your biggest problem is but learning to pace yourself is a good idea, including historical or literary examples, and also making your essay really long. Although I shouldn’t be qualified to give you advice, seeing as how I suck on the essays in my sats as well xDD
