<p>I never knew this man’s name, but his efforts certainly immeasurably enhanced our family’s lives! Any other CC’ers out there saying “God Bless Robert Edwards”?</p>
<p>Dr. Steptoe got most of the publicity at the time Lousie Brown was born. But he had the misfortune of dying before the Nobels for his work went out. </p>
<p>I recall the advent of IVF being the Cosmic Issue of its day. Scientists playing God and all that. It’s a big yawn these days. Funny how things that seem so fraught with controversy at when they are new turn out to be such non-issues once we get used to them.</p>

<p>My cousin and her husband are the proud parents of the first IVF baby in the US. One of my brother & SIL’s daughters is also an IVF baby. So, yes, raising my hand, too!</p>
