Can you please answer?
you’re competitve and don’t need anybody to tell you that. This feels like you’re trying to strike your ego.
@Coldsummer123 I don’t get the same vibe. Many people have been told numerous times that you have to have cured cancer, etc. to get into an Ivy. Plus, this person is an international and probably less familiar with the college admissions process than American students. I have no idea how you came to the conclusion that this poster was looking to “strike their ego.” To be honest, I find that quite rude. Isn’t this person’s post why people even go on this site?
@paulinho I’m in high school myself. I don’t know what the 18.5 GPA really signifies since that is on a different scale, but you are in the top 5% of your class so that bodes well for you. You’re test scores are GREAT. Wow, three 800s on the SAT. I’m also impressed by your 750 on the Language section of the SAT – that’s good for an international.
I think what stands out is you being a Youth Parliament member, and also playing the flute and saxophone as a professional. Are you really a professional player? Where have you performed?
You definitely are a competitive applicant.
I’m not sure how Ivies are with internationals in terms of financial aid. You should probably look into that.
@GrandBudapest Hi. The gpa is 18.5 out of 20 and I am in a 25º best school in Portugal out of 625.
I can play the flute and the sax as a pro because I play in one musical school that has a local band. About the three 800 on the SAT, the secret is spending 8 hours a day during the whole summer studying for them. The finals in the
Math olyimpiads I can thanks to my maths teacher and the European Parliment I can thanks to my English teacher.
Your chances look very good. Your scores are very strong, and you have strong ECs with your instruments and being the founder of multiple clubs. However, Ivies are hard for everyone, and no one can say an Ivy is a “lock” school, in that no one is 100% sure they can get in, even with perfect test scores. Definitely apply, as you have a strong chance at almost all of them, but understand that Ivies are extremely selective. Best of luck!
There are not many Portuguese applicants so that may help a bit too. You will have a relatively higher profile.
Can you play 65,000 per year for an American University?
@suzyQ7 No. My parents cant afford more than 15000 dollars a year.
