To narrow my list of colleges, I’ve mostly been looking at the majors available at each school. So far, I’ve been looking at colleges with Ecology and Natural Resources & Conservation (Environmental Science/Studies, etc). My question is, is it necessary to have one when you have the other? How similar are the two majors?

I also posted a thread earlier that mentioned that my reach schools are Dartmouth and Cornell. Does anyone have suggestions on schools with similarities to the two that would be easier to get into?

Thanks.

If you are looking at environmental studies/sciences, Emory, WashU, and Duke offer excellent programs in these fields. Emory is slightly easier to get into than Dartmouth and Cornell (28% admit rate this past year), but Duke and WashU are just as hard to get into as both of these schools.

As for public schools, I know Ohio State offers a great program in environmental science as well.

A lot of the top rated LACs offer the best programs in Ecology and Natural Resources and Conservation. This question on the best “environmental programs” has been addressed a lot already on CC, so I suggest you click “search the forum” under the “College Search and Selection” forum to find the other threads.

Thanks for the replies. I’ll be sure to check out those links.
