ivy athlete wonders

how low can the grades of an athlete with an ivy likely letter go for midyear report? Ever hear of athlete having likely letter rescinded for slip in grades?

someone please answer. Worried that my life is about to be ruined because of a few hard APs. I only applied to the school that gave me the likely letter.Never imagined that this would be a problem. Will any good schools accept me after the deadline to apply?

Your coach will hear from the admissions office. They will likely warn you to improve or your admissions can be rescinded. It would have to be a pretty spectacular fall for them to rescind admissions.

Thanks Sleph. I’ve gone from all
As to 2 C+s in APs. Would that qualify as a “spectacular fall”?

It is my understanding that admissions departments know that kids who rely on likely letters are forgoing other application options and, as such, they are extremely unlikely to be rescinded.

I think you’ll be OK. Good luck.

Many thanks

Sherpa is correct.
I am an Ivy athlete and certainly wouldn’t advice to drop to C+'s but that should not hurt you too much. Just keep a 3.0 and don’t drop in your core classes, math, science, etc… and you should be okay. As long as you have a letter of likelihood, aim for a B average and you should be safe, as one who went through it before.
