I volunteer for causes I like, not to beef up the resume. Favs: Special Olympics and working with young children. 100+com ser

I play el & ac guitar, and I love to pole vault! Let me know what you think and your opinions on what I should do for the rest of the summer and my senior year. Thanks in advance.

Good for you. You’ve done a lot.

if you do indeed get 2200+, then you’re in everywhere. affirmative action in your case pushes you over the top

Yeah, wow. You’ve really got a chance at all those schools. Obviously there might be rejections from the ivies, but you stand better than a lot of the people who will apply to those schools.

In everywhere.

Interesting…I know race plays a factor in college ad, no matter how much ADCOMs downplay it or how much I resent it…I understand people are concerned about admiting underqualified applicants----

what annoys me is when it is assumed ,simply because of minority status, that someone isn’t deserving…thats why I don’t like Affirmative Actiion (Which wasn’t really intended for me per se, since I am an African Immigrant) Still I’m Black, so I benefit.

What’s worse is having to prove myself time and time again. I mean at school, I have the respect based on my achievement;HOWEVER, people who don’t know me or only see me playing sports always assume my intelligence is sub par and my abilities are limited to athletics.

(The faces of parents at sports banquets, when I recieve the Academic Award is always priceless -especially when I beat out their senior daughters who are in the top 10) I guess maybe it’s the whole dumb jock thing, because I am kinda built. Ok I’ll get off my soap box.

…anyways give me my chances soley based on what I’ve done and then my chances with affirmative action considered…I want to see how much of a factor others think race is when applying to the top schools.

well, i admire your anti-AA stance. but frankly, without it you’ll be reject by HYPSM. ya see, you have a good rank, but only mediocre test scores (for a white/asian applicant), and ECs that have no leadership. furthermore, many make states AND accomplish much more. overall, you are good but not great.

you will be forever stuck with the stigma of underestimation. that’s too bad, but AA is likely to stay for another 3 or 5 years

Without AA I think you will be accepted at a few Ivies with HYPS being reaches.

With AA, (assuming you get 2200+, what did you get on PSATs?) well, basically you will be admitted at nearly all if not all schools.

I’m also an African immigrant, do you come from Nigeria? (I do) Yeah, and also, even though the case for AA might be shaky I don’t complain when something helps me. :)

Please chance me at:

Mediocore tests scores for asain/white ? Seriously doubt that, just based on the percentiles those scores are in, be realistic most students of any race would be happy with those scores/ Some would want SLIGHTLY higher but most would be content.

Mediocore for Ivy League a more probable assertion, I’ll assume that’s what you mean

Still,
I have yet to take them, and several more months to prepare for them,

leadership wise -
did you check out my Z I N C H profile or merely look at the summary-because I didn’t cover everthing I’ve done in the summary if not look z i n c h.com/j11t I really didn’t feel like typing out a bunch of stuff, I admit I’m lazy but after filling out applications one gets weary of relisting.

I’ve declined leadership positions to pursue personal passions like webdesign isn’t that what colleges look for…pursuit of personal passions, not just involvement for the sake of invovlement?

Some Sites I’ve made
http://fremaArt.com/BPAContest</a> -notfully functioning since competition is over
http://chsjcl.awardspace.com -top ten in the nation

A Game I programmed-very fun to make hard to master unless you know the secrets HEHEHEHE
http://fremaArt.com/Turbulence.html</a></p>

nevermind I just realized something…if you are correct in stating I’m forever stuck with the stigma of underestimation…I really shouldn’t reply. Thanks for your feedback and suggestions for my senior year?

firefox-rejected from HYPSM but accepted to the others? If I would be rejected if not for AA i’d rather have that.

Your game isn’t fair, I can’t get past level 1. Also, wth does your score is too low mean???

it means you have to get at least 800 points for the first level hahaha, didn’t you read. From the look of things you should be use to getting 800s

haha. good joke. also, nice looking college chances. your anti-AA stance is quite admirable.

I think it’s ignorant to assume that there aren’t 800 or so (about 70-100 kids per Ivy league freshman class) black kids to fill out spaces at the ivy league. THERE ARE. Plenty of them. That said, any student who comes from an underpivileged background may be judged more leniency.

But the upper middleclass/middleclass has more than enough qualified black students to offer to top schools.

I agree w/ses I know a lot of brilliant black students, some are in the Ivies right now, others are anxiously waiting to fill up spaces for the class of 2012, and some don’t want to be in an environment where they will be underestimated, so they opt for other schools There are brilliant students of all races, and the problem becomes standing out.

Hopefully polevaulting, webdesign, and programming will help me out a lil’ bit.Maybe if I send in some clips showcaseing my abilty on guitar…hmmmm…SIGH

J11T… go for ivy league… be a role model to the ghetto black kids… no pun intended. blacks need more role models. rappers are not the best role models. at least bballers go and teach kids how to read in their respective cities.

ummm ok
But
Black people have plenty of role models who are of varying ethnicities and occupations

Main problem with education with “black youth” to me is T.C.
Thug culture has come to the forefront(for the middle class) as of late mainly due to media…BET,MTV, radio, www etc…which promotes rappers who champion arguably detrimental lifestyles .Why learn when you can make more money doing…well you get the point .
Sure the rappers have been around for a while, but they didn’t get this kind of exposure until the huge media explosion. After all it sells, and isn’t that what America is about? The ALMIghtY $ !!!Capitalism rocks! unless you’re a failing entrepreneur… or still trying to get benefits working an 80hr week

Who cares about the values and morals of the American youth, esp ghetto black kids right? (shake my head in disgust)

Then again I listen to the music,I download it,dance to it and watch the videos online, so I guess I’m a big hypocrite who happens to realize where the money at! I happen to realize, there are so MANY other options, but that song gotta good beat…

(YUP! I’m pretty messed up, One minute I’m playing Greensleeves on my acoustic guitar , next minute I’m playing Alicia Keys “Fallin”, then I’m playing some Chop Suey by System of A Down-one of my favorite BANDs! on my stratocaster, then I break out into Party Like a RockStar (sooooooo fun to play) and This is Why I’m Hot

just learned how to play Supermario Bros theme song on electric guitar. Right now I’m trying to learn classical Canon on the acoustic.

I’m the kind of kid who goes to MIT (for the HMMT) and teaches all the nerds(I am one of them) How to “Two-step” and “Walk it out”

Then I’ll show them a clip on youtube I found about imaginary numbers or shortcuts to solving polynomial functions and stress out about getting a 92 on an AP chemistry test even though I set the curve-can you blame me my dad’s a Chem professor

I’m the kid who brings her APUSH book into the locker room to study during the basketball season, so I don’t get behind on my reading assignments. I’m the kid in programming class who adds a little something extra to the assignment just for the fun of it. I’m the girl the guys don’t want to arm wrestle,I’m the kid who used to skateboard most of her afternoons away.(miss those days I used to have a 2ft ollie)

Some call me an athletic nerd. Some say I “talk white” English wasn’t even my first language. I mean if I’m in certain situations I’ll change my normal speech patterns to fit the accepted vernacular, it ju makes life easieyar, know wat im sayin main dont wann be accused of bein a sell out or nuthin specially when we in the “ghetto” part a town aint tryin get shot ju tryin to make it…out alive Jk

those who know me better ask me to figure out their fav songs by ear and I normally do. I love Gregorian Chants(BLAME my mom she is an artist----that alone has exposed me to so many ideas, not to mention a huge home library stock piled with everything from medicinal mathematics(more b/c of my dad) to
The mystery of Akan textiles

Hmmm maybe I could add some “diversity” to the college campus–gotta luv P.C.

So now that I realize I should start reading a A Prayer for Owen Meany* and that I have to go downstairs and cook dinner

if you are still reading
HOW About those college CHANCES

prob get in everywhere

thank god for affirmative action and being brought up well. others are not as fortunate as you so you should definitely give back.

i am not being an *******. you would get in to some ivies if you were white. but 2200+ would get you into practically anywhere.

and also your lack of real work shows that you were born with a silver spoon so to speak.

its hard not to be resentful as a just as qualified white student with equal (if not better qualifications) who will probably not have the acceptance rates as you based on race.

yeah you can say your anti-aa but you still reap its benefits. why should a kid with an 1150 and subpar e.c’s take someone like me’s spot at columbia (not you I know but just an example)

You have a great shot everywhere, and you would probably get into great schools even if you weren’t black
