Have you ever heard that really selective schools typically do not accept more than 1 kid from the same high school (assuming that you go to an average, public high school)? Is there any truth here?

My friend and I both applied RD to several of the same ivy league schools. Our transcripts are pretty much the same, 9 APs and all A’s and B’s. I have better ECs and more leadership positions than he does. However, on his common app he listed himself as a native hawaiian/pacific islander, when in fact he is not. I just listed myself as Asian. If these institutions only accept one kid, do you think his “minority” status will get him in over my other credentials?

My SAT: 2270, His SAT: 2100
My ACT: 31, His ACT: 28

Wow, why would he lie about his ethnicity…
Once they find out, he’s ******* so hard.
Tell your friend that he’s utterly pathetic. Word of advice, stop being his friend altogether. If he has to lie his way into college, he’s more or less a piece of s***

Don’t worry about your friend, you are competing against 1.6 million other high school students. You have good Stats that can easily get you into top 40 schools in this country. Which is a big achievement by itself. You still have AP exams to take and SAT2s. Do good on them and you will be in a very good school you will love.
