<p>So I just finished my transfer interview with Cornell over the phone; we started off with things like ‘hows school going,’ etc. I asked him the same, he laughed and told me about “Ivy League Purgatory” and defined it as the time when Ivy Leagues send out their decisions, there’s a time span, at least three days, when admissions officers are not allowed to talk to applicants at all. He was really nice about it and said that he wanted to help others out, but it was a strict rule. Didn’t know such a thing existed.</p>
<p>Just saving some ppl the headache of trying to call.</p>
<p>P.S. I just remembered…I don’t think it was purgatory…but it was definitely a word close to that. Yeah.</p>

<p>Haha, yes, it’s a moratorium for all the Ivies. People can start calling admissions offices at all the Ivies on Thursday.</p>

<p>There isn’t an official interview per se…but I remember when I applied for transfer I initially wanted to be a Bio major and the director of the biological sciences program wanted to set up a phone chat with me…just a time for us to chat about admissions and my interest in the major.</p>
<p>i tried to call and ask a general question about GT, that was not only applicable to me but no one in the office would help not even the ppl that answer the phones.</p>
<p>The phone moratorium is for the whole admissions office at each Ivy. They aren’t screening the calls for content, they are literally not answering the phones. The Ivies do this to give their applicants - frequently many of the same students - some time to carefully consider their options.</p>

<p>In my case, I initially e-mailed the woman and she said she wanted to set up a phone chat with me.</p>
<p>I guess if you wanted to speak with someone in your major you could request to do so. I know Biological Sciences and Biology and Society people love to chat with prospectives :-)</p>
<p>Actually, there is an official required interview for ILR transfer applicants. I’m not sure if it’s only ILR.</p>
<p>I think it’s Hotel and ILR. CALS doesn’t require one.</p>
