J Cherub from 1967 here!

Wow-- is there anyone this ancient on this board? I usually post other places, and Northwestern is not one of my child’s choices, but I’m curious to know if any other ancients are lurking here.

Even way back then–when we typed on manual typewriters and Fisk Hall was not air conditioned–the program was beyond spectacular for me.

I learned, for one thing, that I did NOT want to be a journalist, but my writing was greatly improved, I learned all sorts of things about the world and about myself both in and out of class, and it’s still a stand out experience for me, even after all these years.

I am not in touch with anyone from my group any more, but I was for a long time.

It’s good to know that the program remains as fabulous as ever.

My S is a J Cherub from 2005. His experience echos yours with one exception: It reinforced his desire to become a journalist. He is now a freshman at Medill.

NHSI was indeed a fabulous program for him.
