Would Tufts be ****ed off if I indicated a strong interest in International Relations as a reason for wanting to go to Tufts?

This sounds like a strange question but when I spoke to the Dean of Admissions (Princeton), he was distinctly appalled by the probability that a student would want to apply to Princeton to attempt to get into the Woodrow Wilson School. He said something along the lines “one shouldn’t apply to a school for the programme, but for the school culture and general atmosphere etc.” Oh and he also said it was not smart to go to a school for a programme because the level of education at all the top schools are similar.

So is anyone guilty of choosing a school for the programme… or are our actions perfectly justifiable?

I got into Tufts last week under ED I and I specifically said International Relations and Political Science as my academic passions, even naming certain courses I wanted to take at Tufts…so I would say, no, they won’t be angry, as long as you also express who you are, and other great things about tufts: location, size, opportunities…etc…good luck!

I got into Tufts ED I and I was SUPER specific about their community health program. I think you have to be a well rounded student but Tufts is one of the best IR schools in the country and they want to know that you know that!
