Jacobs School of Engineering?

If u applied for an engineering major, do they automatically put you into the jacobs school of engineering? I just got an email saying i got into jacobs school but i don’t even remember applying for it, all i remember was choosing/ranking my houses? I searched online and saw that jacobs school is ranked 11th best for graduates, (had to pay money to see undergraduate rankings). Just wondering if any other engineering majors got this?

Jacobs is the name of the Engineering School at UCSD.

I think everyone who got into an engineering major was put into the Jacobs School of Engineering.

UCSD’s engineering school is named after Irwin Jacobs, a former professor at UCSD, a founder of Qualcomm (a giant company) and inventor of CDMA wireless technology. Qualcomm is probably the most successful and influential company involved in cellular/wireless arena. Jacob’s has generously gifted millions and millions of dollars to the school over the years.

“Jacobs School” is what the Engineering dept is called. You take classes there, but you still belong to one of the 6 “colleges” - muir, revelle, ERC, etc. Your college dictates your GE’s and housing location and such, but you take engineering courses in the Jacobs School.

I think that’s what you were asking.

how will jacobs school be rated against ut austin computer science major
