Aritcle in JAMA says that “From 1997 through 2016, medical marketing expanded substantially, and spending increased from $17.7 to $29.9 billion”.

For comparison, overall US health care spending was about $3.5 trillion in 2017.

Haven’t read a thing but just saw Ellen Degeneris clip where she says the doctor just asked her for a recommendation on what should be prescribed for her ailment.
I had to laugh!
