James Madison University Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

This is interesting to me because it seems the JMU Admissions account on IG doesn’t post very frequently. There must be more JMU discussions on IG than I am aware of.

I agree. They usually post after the fact. They have never posted about admissions coming out.

I just called the office. She informed me that they are still in committee and the process is wrapping up. So I don’t think it will be today. I explained that with my son’s year, we found out much earlier She said they were still meeting over applications. Hope this helps…

The most solid intel yet. Kudos!

I worked in admissions at a local college for years (Springfield College, MA). Committee is BRUTAL. It’s essentially gathering around and stating cases for whether or not to accept/defer/reject students who may be on the fence. It is not fun or pleasant!

Wow. Thought decisions were made by AOs. Didn’t realize they met…

Admission Counselors do make the decisions. But on the tough last ones, it’s brought to “committee”–you go through and make decisions together on those tight ones.

Does this mean it could possibly be tomorrow?

Cignetti is getting paid a ton of money by Indiana ($5M per year) but Indiana is dead-end career killing job…the last coach to have a winning record at Indiana was Bo McMillin who coached there in the 1930’s and 1940’s. It is a terrible job, but Cignetti will leave there as very wealthy man.

I agree with you 100%. Aside from the money, I really didn’t understand the decision to leave an up and coming program to go to one that has been floundering for years.

I don’t know if they’d release decisions on a weekend. Anyone else know?

Why do you say it is brutal? You talk through the borderline applicants and present your arguments, the committee then makes a decision on each applicant to the best of its ability and then everyone goes home…it is not exactly like working in a salt mine

Doubtful.

Because there are people who are fighting for their own students. Many walk away not having won their case.

The decisions will be released when they are released and it will surely happen before the end of the month, which is less than two weeks away. While everyone understandly wants an answer, it really makes no difference in the greater scheme of things whether you find out today or two weeks from now.

Because it’s people – not salt

They often have many people for just a few slots and they want to make careful decisions because they know the decisions will affect these young people’s lives.

As the parent of an applicant to JMU (as well as many other schools), I can certainly understand the desire to learn whether one has been accepted or not.

I have now put all my chips on Tuesday.

Same. I’d be absolutely (pleasantly) shocked if it were before then. Enjoy the weekend all!
