I saw one person post that on Facebook, but have’t seen anyone else in any forum confirm this.
We are in state and our son has not received anything yet…
We are in-state and nothing yet. We’re also at the end of the alphabet, so if that’s part of the determining factor, we wouldn’t be for a while. If the applicant referenced above is international, maybe they are announcing those first for some reason?
We are an A so thinking nothing to do with alphabet
We’re “A” also. I think it’s likely because they’re International.
What is the best guess for the decision release date? Is it this Wednesday or next Tuesday? Either way, it seems JMU likes to release the decisions at 3:00 PM.
Last year is was Tuesday, January 23rd.
Here is the JMU academic calendar. Freshman move-in is August 15-17. If JMU is your child’s first choice, and you need a hotel room, I’d start booking now, you can always cancel later.
Good luck everyone.
Hopefully Wednesday, but if previous years are an indicator, only about 33% get in EA, the rest deferred to RD.
A question here - does anyone know if they reject applicants during the EA round, or do they defer and then reject?
One person last year posted that they were rejected in the EA round.
Are there good chances of getting in if being deferred to RD?
From what I hear, yes.
Based on my experience over the last 7 years I would say chances are good, but the number/percentage of students that were deferred in the EA round that are accepted in the RD round changes from year to year.
Here are the EA and deferred applicant information pages from JMU.
I applied early action low-key freaking out now waiting for decisions to be posted, I really hope they get posted this week. I did see somewhere online that they tend to release decisions on either Tuesday’s or Thursday’s and that they send out an email a day or two before reminding people to check their My Madison but I’m not 100% sure the email thing is real or not.
I’ve also seen in the past a countdown on their instagram page.
oh wow I never knew that. One more thing for me to look for Thanks
One more question that I didn’t see on the deferred FAQ list - should you send mid-year senior grades if you are deferred? It doesn’t sound like they want additional letters of recommendation.
I would reach out to the respective Admissions Counselor for your area for that information.
Good luck everyone! Hoping the results come out Wednesday!
Is that fact based or just a hope?
