Does anyone know how long it takes for JMU to match the applicant portal with transcripts etc that have been sent? My daughter applied EA on 10/27, transcript sent by her HS on 10/29 (requested on 10/21), finally got her JMU ID and portal access last night and it is still indicating they have not received her transcript. I know they would be inundated during the last week but I just want to make sure she would still be considered EA if everything was sent in by 11/1 but maybe just not matched up yet. Thanks!

It took about two weeks for my son’s to get matched up.

Thanks! This whole process is a test in patience and very different than when I applied to college 30+ years ago lol

Does everyone get an email asking them to consider the honors college?

My son got one earlier in November a few weeks after he submitted his application. Not sure if it goes to everyone or not though

My son received this also a few weeks ago.

Any chance they release some of the decisions in the next couple weeks. Many of the other schools that have decisions in January and February are releasing some announcements in December.

From my past experience with JMU they usually release EA all on one date that’s typically mid January.

So I was reading that JMU only accepts “superior” candidates during EA and defer a lot to RD. What do they consider a “superior” candidate?

It’s hard to say what that means. I think if this is a solid target school for your student they will be in good shape. In 2022 my oldest son was accepted EA with a 3.4 and 1260 SAT. It’s hard not to worry and stress but I hope you get good news in January.

“Superior” can mean so many things. Volunteer work could be the driving factor. Perhaps a student overcame something in their lives to succeed. It’s not all about academics. That’s what makes it hard to answer your question.

Hopefully your student gets good news this month. Happy New Year!

Are we all thinking next week (1/15) for decisions?

The 15th makes sense to me - the website says “mid January” and it doesn’t get any more “mid” than the 15th! That said, my son said he “heard” that it could be today. When I asked him what that was based on he had absolutely no information, so I’m thinking it’s wishful thinking among his peers who are anxiously awaiting news. I offer that not because I think it’s real (I don’t) but just to share that apparently, at least at his VA high school that likely has at least 50-75 applicants if not 100, that’s the rumor they are passing around.

I think last year, they came out on a Tuesday afternoon, Jan 23 after MLK day. My guess is Tuesday, Jan 21 although sooner would be great!
